1985 300d Federal EGR/switch over valve

I have a question regarding the switch over valve. To start with, I had no tach reading, after reviewing posts I checked the EGR computer, yep, corroded connector pins. When I pulled the connector off the computer, several pins broke off staying in the connector. As I was doing an EGR delete, I cut the connector off as it was trash (I connected the tach wires together, now have tach reading). Now the question - I cleaned the banjo fitting on the back of the intake manifold, full of crud! I thought I would clean out the line from the fitting, traced it to the switch over valve which in turn goes to the ALDA. Did I screw up by cutting the connector off the computer (which is also trash due to corrosion) and is the switch over valve really required now that there is no EGR? Can I by pass the SWO valve if it is required for proper fuel delivery? Any advise on this?
Thanks
Jerry

First, the switchover valve has nothing to do with the EGR. It's a very simple system consisting of a pressure switch and the switchover valve. If the pressure switch detects an over-boost condition, it closes the switchover valve cutting pressure to the ALDA reducing fuel and thus boost to an acceptable level.

Here's the circuit.

Yes, you can run without it, but you risk the chance of overboost....and unless you re-plumb the line to the ALDA you'll get no extra fueling. The chances of getting to overboost are small as the wastegate is designed to keep boost in check.

mach4, thanks for the reply, so I just need to clean out the lines, put it back together, adjust the ALDA and go enjoy!
Thanks

Be very careful with any attempt to adjust the ALDA, it's very fragile. It's likely fine as is.
