Word from ZF is these are legit. I will use them and report back if I have any issues.

FYI: Over the weekend I installed Lemforder engine mounts in my 91 300-D (W124) and both boxes are marked "Made in GERMANY".
They replaced "ANCHOR" brand motor mounts (installed in 2012) that only lasted 55,000 miles. Last edited by 300D-91; 11-28-2016 at 12:40 PM. |

Out of interest, just did a quick check on three brands of engine mounts.
Admittedly this is only one supplier but they are normally quite competitive. For S124 300TD Engine Mounting for your MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS Estate (S124) E 300 T D (136Hp) I note Lemforder is showing out of stock, another supplier reported some difficultly getting supplies of Lemforder which pushed him to recommend febi instead.

I feel compelled to tie these two threads together. Anyone see the connection between customers wanting low cost parts and their reaction to the cost of high quality parts? Also see where they are made, pricing.
While elevated cost does not always = higher quality, there is a reason why it is difficult to buy quality parts anymore. Try and buy a brake rotor that does not rust away in 2 years of salt belt use. 350SDL motor (engine) mounts, why so expensive? 350SDL motor (engine) mounts, why so expensive? I am searching for motor mounts for my 91 350SDL, and the only ones available from our sponsor are Genuine, and over $70 each! I tried my other source (they have "Rock" bottom prices), and no mounts are even available. Anyone have a line on less expensive mounts for my SDL? Lemforder Engine mounts made in China They were in clearance for $35 each. I've use this site (not Pelican Parts) quite often in the past year or so because the prices are far cheaper than anyone else a |

I'm not against value shopping and mostly connected the two threads because the are on opposite sides of the parts issue and days apart.
On one side a person says " high quality parts are $, I'd like them to be less $ . " the other says " these parts are low cost but are made in China " Kind of like the Good , Fast or Cheap. Pick 2. For a parts company to survive, they must walk the line between keeping market share when it comes to price and quality. For the most part, cars get fixed, run a few more years then traded in so the low cost / low quality part does it's job. Those on this list that run cars many miles are not the typical car owner. |

The typical owner, especially in states like GA where there aren't safety inspections, doesn't care about part quality as long as it gets them a bit further down the road. My first purchase (a stupid one at that) was a 190D with 310K miles with all original suspension. I later bought a 190E parts car that had had 209K miles and incredibly old, maybe original spark plugs. For that one, the person was selling it because it didn't run, a secondary reason was that the rear window was knocked out by a tree limb. I'm sure she would have kept driving that had it kept running (it took us all of about 15 minutes and $0 to get it running). These people and the guy I got my Sportline from certainly don't help with the propagation of cheap parts. For some cars like my brother's W116 you can only get Meyle or OEM for certain suspension bits.

We had a poster years back that had worked for URO at one time he claimed. He indicated the parts where made to sell rather than meet service requirements intentionally.
Years back I ordered some primer pumps out of China. The boxes appeared genuine bosh and the boxes said made in Germany. I often wondered if the same ones where sold in Germany as well? |

Both Bosch primer pumps and glowplugs have been known to be counterfeited in China. I had one of the primer pumps. It was installed in August and failed on the coldest morning of the winter (massive air leak). I had to change it at -29 C in the driveway. That was the last auto part I purchased on eBay. There is a reason that the glowplug boxes now have holograms with security code numbers you can cross-reference on the Bosch website. I don't know if the primer pump boxes also have the security feature now.
