On hold for now

The wagon is in my driveway for a brake booster upgrade (from W116 300SD), and has been there for a couple weeks. We are having problems with the system. Had the booster rebuilt, replaced the master cyl, and rebuilt the vac pump. It takes both feet to get it to barely stop. We tried a rebuilt W116 pump (double diaphragm), and it did not help. I think there is a problem with the booster. I think I will remove it (big job), and take it back to the rebuilder. I can't imagine two different pumps being the problem, since they both were rebuilt.
Once the brakes are working, only 500 miles till the celebration. There will be advanced notice as to where and when. Stay tuned!

WOW .

What's the big deal on the W116 booster then ? .

Works better , less pedal pressure or what ? .

Not 500,000KM, 500,000 MILES!
The big booster is on the LWB 123's, and supposedly provides more stopping power.

If it's like the 126 booster, I have one on mine and it doesn't so much stop better but takes less pressure for a given amount of braking. To me it's a matter of preference. I can't stand brakes that are an on/off switch. Some prefer that. I like the softer feel.

Details still being worked out

The car is at my place, and not being driven so as not to go over 500,000 miles. He is driving my extra car while the date and location are worked out. It should be within the next few weeks, so stay tuned. When we have the location and date firmed up, y'all will be the first to know (well, maybe second ).....Rich

Anyone and everyone that drives a Mercedes-Benz is invited. When we get the place and time set, invite everyone you know with a 'Benz.

I'm up in Fresno, but if the party falls on a day I can get away, I'll drive my 87 300D down for it! I may even try to convince my buddy with a mint 85 300TD to head down with me!

More delays, but be patient!

The wagon is still at my place, waiting for the venue and date to be finalized. He does not want to drive it for fear of going over. If it works out, there will be enough room for 200+ cars. I am sure there will be a minimum of 100, as many owners are members of local clubs, and most are planning to attend. We are planning a trip to Europe around the middle of April, so the celebration may have to wait till May when we return. Either way, it will be a pretty big deal. You won't want to miss it if you are anywhere near So. Cal!

Blue needs his wagon, but since he can't use it for fear of going over 500,000 miles before the date and venue are finalized, he borrowed my 350SDL. 350SDL roadtrip to Colorado from So.Cal.

Host a party when you hit some REAL miles.

Only 500,000 miles??? A party???

Wake me when he gets 1 million on it.
