Celebration planned for a friends 500,000 mile 300TD

In the near future when my friend's 300TD rolls over to 500,000 miles, he is planning a get together somewhere in So. Cal. I posted photos here: 500,000 kilometers!
Not wanting to continue highjacking the thread, I started this one. I am sure he will make an official invite when the time gets closer, and all will be invited. He is planning to drive in the parking lot at exactly 500,000 miles. It may take some extra driving to rack up the miles in order to time it just right, but it will be worth the effort. He may even need to trailer it if the miles get too close, as it is his daily driver. The car has about 496, 2XX on it now. He will be on the road traveling to family for the holidays, so I imagine it will only be a few weeks till the grand event will take place. He is working out the details on the venue, so I will post the approximate date and place when all the details are worked out. Stay tuned!

Yes but only to read, not post. As far I know he is not a member.

Ah-ha! A lurker!

Still, best of luck to him. Half a million miles is an accomplishment. This never happened in my Michigan days as the bodies dissolved before the drivetrain could go that far. Here in NC it is, at least, possible. Truck has 230K and is still breaking in - I love that truck! I'm working out a paint job for the old boy as it's time.

My friend Blue's car is part of this thread, along with others that he has restored: A friend of mine just finished up his 300D- PHOTOS!

that blue wagon looks like the car in a recent mercedes classic magazine article. I like the rings around the gauges, and the roof rack!
