123 cruise amp removal
What is the best method for removing the cruise amplifier from a 240D ? So far I've stood on my head, removed a philips head screw which is to the securing clamp for the amplifier casing. I tried removing what appears to be a 10 mm nut. To make a long story short the bolt head is now rounded and there is not enough space to swing the amp so as to get a socket on what remains of the bolt.
I know that german engineering is good, but is there something I'm missing ? |

What I did was leave the box in place and just remove the board. You can do so by just taking a screwdriver and bending the tabs that hold the board in. After it's fixed, just slide it back in....you probably won't even need to bend the tabs back.

Thanks Mach4 for that suggestion. Following the procedure of loosening all the tabs resulted in the circuit board sliding right out.

I second the suggestion to remove the board. Having removed the entire amp in my W126, I'll live without cruise control before ever doing that job again. Wished I'd thought of removing just the card, but hindsight being 20/20 and all...
