Sixer, is yours a suction type bleeder, pulls BF into a container at the bleeder nipple, and feeds fresh fluid into the reservoir as it is removed from the system.... keeps it full??

Harbor freight unit is $35, that is how it works.... suction....

No, the Motive bleeder uses pressure and attaches to the master cylinder reservoir in place of the threaded cap.

You can use a MityVac to suction bleed but you'll never bleed a master cylinder through the calipers.

Rocket I just went thru same ordeal on my 85 sd with abs which makes it harder to bleed. I have used both the suction method and the pressure method some say to use both. I prefer the pressure method. Yours should be easier since you do not have ABS brakes you should not need 20psi. pressure probably get away with 4-10 psi. remember less is better as long as you can get the air out. I like putting the pressure on make sure everthing is airtight with no fluid in the canister providing the pressure do one wheel at a time and check your fluid in the master at least between wheels or as often as needed so you do not run the master dry. The master is made up of 2 sections and you have to pay attention to each section one feeds back brakes and one feeds front. I first did not really know what was wrong with my brakes but had a bad sinking mushy pedal I tried bleeding about 2 times might have improved a little but still not good bought a rebuilt master and they go by the vin.# of your car, bench bled before installing it, put it on pressure bled the brakes and now I have great safe brakes to stop my 4,500lbs. car. I do not like to keep fluid in the pressure bleeder while bleeding because when you are finished I do not see how you can avoid a mess while unhooking as even if you release pressure you still have a master that is filled right to the top and hose full of fluid to contend with and gonna leak all over and brake fluid is not good anywhere except inside the braking system you do not want any on your hands or the paint of your car.

yuke thanks for the overview.

my preliminary conclusion: there are lots of junk rebuilt MCs and even junk new (Metelli) ones. Parts suppliers would seem to be at legal risk, necks stuck out like crazy.

Wouldn't you know it my backup vehicle 96 Ram 2500 cummins 5 speed needs a clutch or at least a throwout bearing on short notice.
