1995 E300 diesel 2 piece under tray- Unicorn?!

I have been unable to find even a pic online of the 2nd piece that goes in the front and protects the alternator and oil pan. My car is missing this, even the identical donor car I bought in 2015 doesn't have it.

Anyone??

Those are noise encapsulation panels. Most cars that have been worked on are missing the panels since they're always in the way.

Are you simply looking for a picture or for the actual part?

My E300D has one installed.

I was looking for both actually, I've never seen a photo. My local Euro parts yard just replied to me and said the have the 2 piece set for $50. Hope its the right one, they've been wrong on parts before (heater solenoid, power steering pump)

Fingers crossed for the correct part. Let me know if you need a pic. The next time mine is on the lift, I can snap a photo.

$50 is dirt cheap for both parts IF they are the right ones. I was fortunate, my '95 E300D came with both.

My '95 has them both, but my '93 is missing them. I sure would like to have some for it. You better snatch those up if they're correct.

My 95 has both belly pans. Small forward unit and the larger all the way back to rear of transmission. What I do not have is the two little ones forward of front control arm that is supposed to have the rubber flaps.

I guess none of this is available new these days?

Exclamation

I drove up there yesterday, they were short on help and didn't have it off the car yet, so I left a deposit and was walking out the door when the owner approached from outside and asked what I needed. Long story short, they have the small front piece only which is what I need. Hoping to go back up today and grab it.

Disappointing that many of them get "lost", they are really not such a big deal and protect the engine bay from the elements which is especially important in areas like mine where we get winter weather and road salt. The alternator is really exposed without this.

Will update with pics when I get it installed fingers crossed!

The belly pans are really there to block noise. There are plenty of other areas that water and road grime can get in the engine bay, the bottom side of the engine isn't usually the primary source.

I'd be more worried about the lack of free ventilation causing condensation and trapping moisture rather than letting it freely evaporate. If you live in an area with salt, rust and corrosion is always going to be an issue. The only way to combat it is to keep the car washed well or move somewhere else that doesn't salt the road.

Keep in mind, nearly every other manufacturer skips the "noise encapsulation" panels, and their engines and drivetrains hold up just fine.

Those are not rubber flaps - they are plastic louvres which are pulled open by a wax type thermostat on the panel. It only works if you have the engine belly pan installed correctly, that way the engine bay gets baking hot and the louvres open and air exhausts.

Those two are the easiest to find in a yard - the lower ones are gold unicorns.

On the W210 Avantagarde many get broken on speed bumps due to being too low, personally wouldn't drive without one, alternator damage could occur.
