I put a very discreptive post up awhile ago about rear tire camber and it seems that no one was understanding my problem. All I really want to know about is, (1) Ride hieght in the rear floor to fender "for those who have a level floor" (2) TYRE CAMBER in the rear wheels (3) And understanding my post and coming up with real numbers I can work with instead of turning it into JUNIOR MB ROMPER ROOM!!!!!!!! PSFRED if you read thid please reply because you've given me nothing but honest replys! No offense bible and mower, it just sucks when I look on my post for replys and the number is hefty but the content has the ultimate opposite. I just want to make sure my rear is set up correctly before I go on the road because I put new sub mounts, rear diff. mount, and new TYRES! If you guys could come up with some numbers that would be sweet or else this sedan will have to be like my 150 HP zx-11 NINJA and my 1999 powerstroke f350! For those of you who have never played with 500ft.lbs in a pickup or 150 hp on a 500 lbs. bike THEY CHEW UP THE TYRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a 84 300d turbo and the topic was REAR TIRE CAMBER!

M-B spec for rear wheel chamber for '84 300D:
1st version: -0 degrees +/- 30'
2nd version: -1 degrees +/- 30'

Rear wheel toe in + or toe out -
1st version: per wheel + 0.5 (vary +1.0 to -0.5 mm), total +1.0 (vary +2.0 to -1.0 mm)
2nd version: per wheel +1.5 (vary +0.5 to -1.0 mm, total +3.0 (vary +1.0 to -2.0 mm)

2nd version is identified by inspecting the rear axle carrier and looking for an additional bore diameter of 10mm on the right hand inner bearing bracket for the connection of the semi trailing arm.

I assume you know that you will need to use or take the car to a shop that has an alignment machine capable of doing 4 wheel thrust alignments to adjust the rear end. Many people assume that a 2 wheel alignment is OK. However, M-B's have 4 wheel independent suspension and each of the 4 wheels needs to be aligned to spec., otherwise the car's 4 wheels are not properly aligned.

If this information is not sufficient, then I suggest getting the official M-B chassis manual because there are 16 pages devoted to the alignment of the rear wheels.

Or, why doesn't the repair shop doing the alignment have this information and spec.?

I've set-up lots of race configurations and tire/wheel/chassis orientation is critical to the correct operation of these machines - stock vehicles still need to be correctly set to spec. to achieve the correct orientation.

My apologies for trying to help someone else in YOUR thread. I couldn't help you in the thread, but in reading it, I noticed something that I might could offer to someone else. The only other way I know to answer him so that he sees it, is to start another thread calling his name.

Threads skewing away from the original post has happened a lot here in mshop and I never recall it being a problem. These threads are for all of us, and the discussion OFTEN skews away from the original post.

I will be more careful, and not clutter up any of your threads after I finish with this message. On the other hand, if there is something that you need to communicate with someone besides myself in any thread that I may have started, please feel welcome to do so.
