The link to the thread I posted above has nothing to do with clocking. I'll copy it below so there is no mistake (what you posted):

"but I studied fixing one of these R4's at one time...
and the tolerances and SPECIAL TOOLS ... which I doubt that you , as a non dealer, can even buy.... convinced me it was a factory rebuild job for any chance of it giving reasonable service... keeping in mind that if is explodes you have a huge cleanup and redo job on your AC system.... "

If I had listened to you, I would have given up on taking apart the R4, rebuilding/ resealing it.

W123 compressors has the clutch solenoid connector facing up, when a belt breaks, it could take out the connector, then you need a new clutch solenoid coil.... happened to me. The connector can be re-clocked to any position after pulling the clutch coil. I re-clocked mine so it is not in the line of fire when belts break. I had to lengthen the clutch harness connector since it will be too short after re-clocking.

Interesting ~

Maybe mine have been replaced or serviced ? .

I've been very lucky (and attentive !) as I rarely suffer broken drive belts because i look closely at them and replace the *instant* I see cracks between the drive cogs .
