Post some pix here if you have any doubt. The older pumps on the OM617 and OM616 engines were very susceptible to mistakenly taking the pump out of calibration, but the OM603 pumps are better in that regard.

Also, how can I hook up a hand pump to rid the fuel system of air?
My injectors are out and all fuel filters will be replaced. I don't want to burn out my battery or starter

You shouldn't need to manually prime the fuel system in the SDL - it is self-priming by design. Pour clean fuel in the spin-on filter, then crank with your foot pushed to the floor. If it doesn't start in ~15 seconds of cranking, stop and wait a couple mins. Repeat until it starts. Mine usually takes 2 cranking cycles to start if it's bone dry.

Just received rebuilt injectors. Put everything back together.
The injector threads are now leaking. Return lines have been replaced and dry. Injectors were torqued at 75Nm. I even received new heat shields and placed them "indented side up" facing the nozzles. (IIRC the heat shields have this spacing of depression where the nozzle is placed accordingly) What could cause this? Could it be bad pre chamber lock rings?

Which injector threads? There are threads where the hard lines connect to the top of each injector, and each injector is threaded into the pre-chamber.
I suspect you mean fuel is bubbling out around the threads at the base of the injectors? In this case, clean off any spilled fuel around the base of each injector with brake cleaner followed by compressed air. Done. Fuel spilled at the base of the injectors will vibrate with the engine and appear to be bubbling up / leaking. Totally normal.

Will acetone work? That's all I have on hand. I'll squirt some on there and let it dry.

Also even after delivery valve overhaul and new nozzles, still injector knock, smoke at idle and idle is still rough.
It idles so rough it shakes the car. Video of injection leak https://youtu.be/TZHwSErzWy0 This is injection knock just never seems to go away.

Acetone followed by blowing it off with compressed air should work fine.
Next step is to isolate the knock to one injector, then either move the injector or move the delivery valve and see which one is faulty.

Alright going to do the diesel cracking ritual in sequential order. And find out the bad guy.

I'll also run some fresh diesel and see if that helps.

If your prechambers have a lot of carbon built up in them, it could take a highway run or two to burn all the crap out. Don't give up just yet.
Since you did the DV's and you now have what sounds like nailing and/or a miss, you might consider re-doing the DV's. The seals and O-rings aren't expensive, but the torquing sequence is critical. Since you farmed the injector rebuild out, I wouldn't suspect them to be the issue. It also isn't clear how you installed the heat shields. There is a beveled (domed) side and a U-shaped "lipped" side. The beveled (domed) side faces down into the prechamber. The U-shaped "lipped" side faces up against the injector nozzle face. If you have them upside down, they won't seal and you'll get fuel and/or compression leaks. |

Once the fuel line brackets arrive i'll take it for a spin on the highway.
Also I already redid the delivery valves. Like as in, I realized I needed to torque them in a 3 stage sequence. I'm positive my brother put the injector heatshields on correctly. If push comes to shove i'll throw in some cetene booster to see if that helps.
