First big trip with the diesel
Just got back from Orlando after a short vacation with the wife and kid. Except for the intial trip from Ohio to Atlanta when I bought the car, this is car's first trip of any significance.
Dumped in a bottle of Redline DFC, filled up the tank, got the A/C set comfortably and set the cruise control at 70. 8.5 hrs later and with the low fuel light just coming on, we arrived. Filled up the tank and figured I got right at 30mpg! I was VERY pleased. Car ran like a top. Trip back was the same except the cranky cruise control decided not to work...so, with the manual cruise control set (my foot) I tried to keep it at 70 but it fluctuated. Still managed to squeak out a wallet pleasing 29mpg. Well....this might be a new record or something but, while I was in Orlando, I topped off the tank before I left and paid a WHOPPING $1.79/gallon for diesel!! Luckily, I only needed a couple gallons to top it off. Anyway, I realize none of this is earthshattering news but I was just so thrilled with how well the car ran for the trip I wanted to share it with somebody. Now....just need to spend another day cleaning off all the bug guts from the front of the car

30MPG is really -excellent- for a 300SD. Your engine must be very healthy.
