How To Access Crank Bolt On 300SDL EDIT: Found solution.

I'm trying to access the crank bolt on the 300 SDL. How do I get to it if the radiator and blades are in the way?

If I have to remove the radiator, then how so?

It's a PITA to turn the crank by hand in the SDL. A standard socket is too short, a deep socket is too long. Later cars had a "two piece" fan shroud that you could remove and get out of the way, the SDL's weren't that fortunate and that shroud is the bane of my existence.

What I do is take the clips for the fan shroud off and let it "float", then use a standard deep socket and push up into the crank. It'll rub on the shroud, but allows enough clearance to swing the handle from under the car.

Tell me about it, I tore threw the entire radiator assembly, only to find out to you have go under.

Welp, I signed up for this, gotta get it down one way or another.

Hopefully you didn't damage the radiator...

If you did, prepare for a HEART-STOPPING amount of money you're gonna lay out for a new one (if you can find one)!
