seat height adjustment not working -- is this part why?
hi folks, i finally rebuilt my driver's seat (thanks to cooljjay and Alec300SD) with a third spring, foam inserts and a heat transfer pad. great. cleaned and lubed all the tracks and forgot how it went back together. figured it out and got it in the car. now the height adjustment doesn't work, and i found this one steel part left behind on the bench. are the two related? i can't place it on the parts diagram. if not, i just committed some other sort of sin, but i'd like to know before i haul it back out of the car.

Wild guess - is it not part of 331? (that would be funny)

I believe that is part # 541 in your diagram. It is to keep the seat from sliding too far in the rail. It bolts in from the bottom when you attach the seat to the base.

Diseasel300 i think you are right. it seems unnecessary and would have take more disassembly to replace, so i left it out.
the adjustment problem came down to the fact that the little wing on the transfer rod wasn't captive under the welded square tongue. my pull at the left wasn't being transmitted to the right side of the seat. having fixed that, and put an M8 bolt through the seat frame to improve the leverage of the pull lever, everything works well again. thanks folks! |
I repaired some of the springs in my seats a couple weeks ago and I remember that piece and what a PAIN it was! I forgot to install it on one of my seats and had to unbolt it and lean the seat back to put it back in. I was not amused.
