Post Update

4.30.17

Whew ~ the car ran pretty well to Las Vegas, my Son and his Wife raced well, I had piles of fun babysitting my extra cute 4 Y.O. Granddaughter then the troubles began.....

I was driving some old broken pavement back rod when the pavement stopped and some time later so did the damned road ! . all the bouncing and shaking broke loose lots of crud from deep in the fuel tank, my fuel filters plugged up and I got stuck in North Las Vegas in a puddle of Diesel fuel changing filters in a hot 40 MPH wind ~ not much fun but I persevered and got it going again , the drive home netter29MPG ~ the very best this car has ever given me .

Several times since I have run it dry and collected very fine silt in the micronic paper element filter I've added between the primary screen and the transfer pump, each time it then runs better for two tank fulls then cruds up again, loping @ idle, shaking and smoking under load .

Mercedes cheerfully sells the delivery valves, springs and so on, comparing injection pump parts to shock absorbers clearly shows you know little about Auto Repair, Auto parts or Dealers .

The M-B Classic Center sent me O-Rings P/N A 022 997 43 48 instead ofcopper crush washer .

I've been hitting up Partshaus', Hardware Stores Etc. for copper washers to no avail .

I looked at United Diesel Service in El Monte and Lo ! they're and old Vendor of mine from when our Fleet was Detroit Diesel....

I'll jot down the IP's M-B and BOSCH P/N's and try to get there this week...

There is very little you can do to them; and it's pretty much proven that messing with them in the hopes of increasing performance is a dead end. Do yours "leak"? Are you having some issue to which you have come to the conclusion that the delivery valves are "bad"? More information of your issue is needed for the forum to help.

Nate - did you ever get a price on those valves? I'm having the hot idle shakes after a highway run too and this is the last area to check.

Post Blast From The Past

Dang ~ I forgot about this thread .

After my last long ride the intake screen and secondary fuel filters kept clouding up with fungus crud and the idle began to lope badly, the exhaust smoked terribly, I had to wash the Diesel smoot off the cove every week or two .

On the advice of someone here I switched from Startron to Biobor and got lots and lots more crud out of the tank, I'm still fighting with it a YEAR later, although the car runs well (power wise) it often leaves a dark gray cloud of fuel smoke when I leave a dead stop and the fuel economy rarely exceeds 23 ~ 25 MPG .

I never did get those part #'s from United Diesel Service, I did buy new delivery valves from The Classic Center and installed them, I wound up getting new copper washers off Amazon .

I just wrote a price check request and will hopefully have the correct P/N's for DV's and springs by Friday .

Don't forget to ask me, I get so dang busy I forget, sorry, mea culpa .

I have some new extra springs and seals that were made in Italy because I had to buy a bag each when I wanted them. They are for my 84SD.

Anyone can send me an email. $15 for 5 each. A few people have bought them and can chime in whether or not they worked.

Nice one, thanks Nate.
Do you know if that comes with the plunger and barrel as a set?

They are springs and seals only. The actual delivery valve is a separate PN as listed above.
