Blue purchased a couple car top cases (actual MB accessories) from a chap in London. These will prove to be very useful on this trip, as we are car camping most of the time. We would normally take everything out of the back and put it on top at night, but now it rides up there in the boxes and is secure.
Photo of the car and white cliffs of Dover.

So get to know phrases like, "Bonjour parles-tu anglais?" or "
Hallo sprechen Sie Englisch?".
On a side note, I found if I tell them I am from the US, I didn't get as warm of a welcome as just saying I am from California (leaving out US or America). Everyone knows California and they were excited to meet someone from there.. it seems...

We are in Stuttgart now, and headed to a friends place to visit. We will probably be going to the Mercedes-Benz museum tomorrow. Here are some photos.

A beautiful morning in Bavaria

We woke up to a beautiful morning here in Baveria, and will visit Blue's friend Walter. He operates a classic car sales business. He sells VW and Porsche cars, and has the best of the best. Later we will travel to Stuttgart and visit a W123 club workshop. Tomorrow morning we will visit the MB museum. We have seen some interesting cars on the road, and I will post some photos. We see a lot of wagons, and most cars are Diesel. One section of the autobahn we saw nine out of ten cars that passed us were wagons. More photos to come as an Internet connection allows.........Rich
Edit: having problems uploading a photo, will try later

Outside, probably 20 cars, and another 1,000 square feet of outside storage. Truely an amazing place. Here is a shot of a small part of the inside storage. More photos to come. I love places like this, don't you wonder if they really even have a clue what they have there?

Wow, I know Prien very well, nice little town. If you find yourself driving by Bamberg, be sure to stop here: Original Schlenkerla Smokebeer from Bamberg / Bavaria, UNESCO world heritage site - The original smoked beer specialty in Germany
and order a rauchbeer, and a Bamburger Zwieble (onion) if you are lucky enough to get there before they are all gone. I should add I am freaking jealous, having driven thousands of mile in Europe, but never in a car of my own.

We went to the Mercedes-Benz museum on Sunday, and were privileged to park by the entrance all day while we were inside! Photos later. Yesterday we did something that few people get to do- we drove the wagon one lap around the Nurburgring! Yes you read that right. It was so cool. The car was definitely the slowest, and we got passed many times. It was still a fun experience. The photos and video are in my camera still, so I will post them later. Today we visited a friend in Belgium that is a vintage motorcycle collector. He has well over 100 pre-1950 motorcycles in his warehouse. He has a few in his garage that are ridden occasionally. More photos later when I get a better internet connection.

Today is the day to prepare to head back, and leave the car with the shipper. We packed some headlights in our bags, and left more along with bumpers and other parts in the car. We caught a cab to the bus depot, and will arrive at the airport in a few hours. The car should arrive in New York in a few weeks, in hopes to tour the USA before arriving back in. Los Angeles. It has been a very fun and rewarding trip. One of the fellows we bought some lights from has a 240 TD with a five speed. This is a very rare car, and it was cool to actually see one. As usual, I can't post photos here. I will post many when I get home. You will be amazed at some of the things I took photos of, so stay tuned. Thanks all for following along, Rich

We are headed home!

We are at Heathrow airport, and this is the coolest airport on the planet! Inside it is like a mall, with a gate about every couple hundred feet. I imagine there is everything here that you might find at your local mall. Blue did all the driving (I am glad for that!), and drove 3,600 miles, and through eight countries in the ten or so days we were in the car. I will post more photos when I get home......Rich

How much will it cost to ship the car? I would imagine there are also some brokerage fees to get all the required paperwork, curious how that will go.

Normally about $1,500, but Blue has connections, and it I'll be much less.
