Hazet valve wrench sets
 

Seems like these things are either rare as hens teeth, or made of gold. Anyone know where there is any for sale for a reasonable price?

I've seen sets sell on ebay for $60-100

no used ones listed as of now. but keep watching.

I missed out on a set that sold for ridiculously cheap

well, at the moment I see 3 single wrenches for $75 a piece on ebay, and a 2 wrench set from germany for almost $120 after shipping.

if you need them quick there is one wrench on amazon for 39.50 and another on ebay for 65(or best offer)

if you offer $50/free shipping. you could have a set for just under $100

I would wait for a better deal, or get the homemade set on the mercedes***** site

Does it have to be Hazet, and where are you located? I have the two wrenches, the ones that hold the jam nut and adjuster. Parked my W123 around seven months ago and thinking I may sell them. Bought them here a few years back and they worked fine. I also have some (maybe 8-10) new in box Bosch glow plugs (pencil type) for a 617.952 also.
I bought them (GPs) from an online seller that was closing out their inventory when I was looking for five.

Heyco and Lumen also made valve adjusting wrenches for our Mercedes. They also made the 3rd wrench but it does not come up as often for sale as the Hazet 3rd wrench does.


On eBay you can by the home made versions done by someone who bends the 14mm wrenches and welds an extension on them.


People have also claimed that if you remove the Fuel Injection Hard Lines you can use regular open end wrenches to do the job. Some have even done it with regular wrenches with the Fuel Injection Hard Lines in place. I am not flexible enough for that.


If you remove the Fuel Injection Hard Lines you are best off with a 17mm flare nut crowsfoot on a 3/8 extension to loosen and tighten them and you will also need to know how to bleed the air out of the after they are re-installed.

Meh... I have them, never used them. I still use the set I bent myself. Pretty easy to do. I bought a gross of 14mm wrenches with plans to bend up sets for members, but nobody ever wanted a set.

I bent a set too. I like making tools though they don't always work like the high dollar tools but they sure are cheap.

The wrenches are too easy to make to spend a bill buying them.

To be honest i just searched for hazet because thats what all my searches came up with. I wouldn't mind using a tool made by someone, or by a different manufacturer. I just know i need to adjust these valves.

When I bought my 300cd (17 yrs ago) I was looking through everything (1st mbz), took out spare tire & found 3 wrenchs under it. A few years later I found out what they were for! My set has one of the 14 mm's with a slightly longer handle than the other (why?).
The big one still had/has that little sheetmetal 'clip' on it.

They are different lengths so they can be used together. The sheet metal "clip" on the third wrench allows you to put the tool on the cap and let go of it, then use both of your hands operating the other two wrenches.

Several years ago I made some and sold some but if you only sell on the forums it took like 1 year eo sell 6 sets.

Apparently not many people have enough mechanical ability to use them. If you are going to sell you need to be on eBay or another place where you reach the whole company.

Sadly the old Mercedes that still need valve adjustment are disappearing.

I figured out the clips purpose straightaway, I tried the wrenchs short on top & short on bottom, I think I would prefer both with long handles.

I dont know why they (previous owners) even had 'em, they gave me their service records (independent MB shop), steam cleaned engine bay top & bottom & trans, every visit, among other things. A whole lot of new parts replaced in 2 years before I bought it, about ½ of my purchase price, whatever the shop said, they paid.
