Man, I am loving driving this car with the 5 speed in it!!!!
The OM617A just wakes up without all the power being sucked up with the auto transmission. Got plates on it last Friday and here it is only 5 days later and I have put over 225 miles on it, just driving around town! If my wife wouldn't mind driving a standard, I would find another 5 speed and put it in the wagon. The AC blows ice cold with the sanden compressor. (Thanks Rollguy for making the kit available) I can't wait to drive today!

Have not driven it yet this year, as it is still snowing out here! They use so much salt on the roads, so it is still in hibernation. Was hoping to get it out this weekend, but again snow. This week it should warm up and if they don't salt today I will get it out tomorrow and start driving it. I have the coupe, the wagon and my Unimog that I just finished restoring for the summer time. So I will be driving it, but not much. Will be taking the wagon across the country next month, so that should be a great adventure!

Thanx for the update .

I agree, having grown up in New England, DO NOT drive it until after the third rain or you'll be forever sorry as the rust begins where you can't ever really stop it .

Well I got my coupe out last night from storage and took it for a ride today and ended up buying this sedan! 84' with only 50k miles on it! ZERO rust but it does have some hail damage. Mostly in the hood and trunk, but I have good ones in stock. So with a little paint and a few hours of work she will be ready for another life. My son is going to swap in his 5 speed from his 85' Euro sedan that is getting a bit long in the tooth with 350k miles and a ton of rust from all the winters.

Had a heck of a time getting the front subframe mount bolts out. Had to rip the mounts apart by spinning the bolt. I guess they didn't bother to grease the bolts when installing them.
Von, did you uses a spring compressor to remove the subframe, or can you just support the differential and release the shocks or SLS struts at the the top and disconnect and lower things as you go?

Awesome cars in your fleet, Von. Those BBS rims look fantastic on the wagon and CD. If you ever are looking to sell the CD give a forum member the first crack!

On the back I don't use the spring compressor when removing the whole subframe. I just pull all the mounts and lower it with a jack that supports the whole thing. Once lowered a bit the springs can be pulled right out. It is the front springs that you need the compressor for sure. I pull the shocks or SLS struts before lowering the subframe.

Thanks for the kind words, If I ever decide to sell I will post it here for sale. But I don't see it happening in the near future, it is just too much fun to drive!
