Quick Question - W124 speedometer head in a W123?

Would a W124 speedometer head work in a W123?

The 123s where all cable driven I think. Also the speedometer probably would have to come from a car with the same rear end ratio probably.

Just took a quick look the 124 uses a speedometer cable.
