Coolant overflow hose clip?
Anyone have a p/n for this thing? It's the one that secures the coolant overflow hose to the top of the fan shroud. Can't find it in EPC or on any of the dealer parts sites.

Bob are we to read your mind What is the car you talking about ?
|
I suspect it is for his W124 300D 2.5 in his signature.
I used a black zip-tie on my SDL and not losing a wink of sleep over it. |

Yes, sorry, it is for the car in my sig. I was just going to zip tie it as well, but if it's one of those things that's only a buck or two, I'd consider adding it on to a future order. It may be that the clip comes with the fan shroud. I'll find out tomorrow, as I have a replacement for my cracked shroud arriving tomorrow. |
Did you order the 2 piece shroud makes for removal much easier.

I have a baggie of hole mounted cable ties, they are regular cable ties with a mounting pin on them that push through a hole. Works best and I cant even recount how many times I have used them on a number of cars.

No - I wasn't aware that was an option. Bummer! Man, that's aggravating...do you know the p/n? Maybe the 2-piece supersedes the 1-piece? Or is it from a later model year or something? |
I believe they were form 93 and up
|
Replaced mine not long back .I have the 2 part shroud . A picture would help ..If it is i know the number and would need to look it up for you .

Do you know if the 2-part shroud definitely fits the '602? The EPC lists the same p/n for the shroud for both the '92 & '93 300D 2.5 (the 1-piece shroud) The 1987 300D is does list the 2-piece shroud (p/n 1245000255), but of course that car had the OM603 engine. Weird that they would supersede the p/n for an older car, replacing the 1-piece shroud with a 2-piece, and not do the same for the newer 90-93 cars. Makes me think it might not work for the OM602? Incidentally, the shroud I received in the mail is 1-piece, but looks different. Slightly different shape, and no place to clip the coolant hose. Will post a pic when I get home, and double-check the p/n. If they sent me the wrong one, I'll send it back and exchange it for the 2-piece, if I can find one that fits. |
you dont need a 2 piece shroud on the 5 cyl engine, once you scooch it back you can undo the fan bolt.
the 2 piece shroud was done for the 6 cyl engines as there is very little space upfront and working on the fan becomes a razor blade match with a 1 piece shroud. |

That makes sense. To be honest, I didn't find it very difficult to remove the fan and shroud and wondered what all the fuss was about. I mean, I wouldn't mind the 2-piece shroud if it made things even easier, but probably not worth the effort at this point. I hadn't considered that a lot of the complaints were probably from folks with one more cylinder to deal with. |
