Question automatic climate control problem

Hi everybody,I just spent half of Sunday morning to read the Forum content re diesel, such a nice fraternity and thanks to many of you.
My 1981 300SD turbocharge suddenly changed into a moving sauna. The central dash vent spits out lot of hot air and when starting, I hear some clicks from the right side behind the gloves box .
My system was repaired just last September, it worked fine till last Thursday this week.
My mechanical skill is too low for opening the dash panels and checking if all flaps are free to move.My opinion is that sometimes even a MB dealer, where my last work was done, does not know all about this rather complicated system and design
I would appreciate an advice to instruct the repair shop where to look and what to do.Last time they just improvised for three days and for lot of my spare cash.

Lightbulb Monovalve? Maybe!

You can simply, easily, and cheaply diagnose and repair this type of problem. The symptom is continuous heat from the Climate Control System. The MB CD manual lists the fix as 83-625 in the ACC Manual if you own one. Better than that though, you can go here:

http://mbdieseldiy.tripod.com/index.htm

and look under Monovalve Replacement and follow the step by step! Good Luck!

If all flaps work fine.....

If all flaps areworking fine under diff modes-- meaning defrost, front vent, leg room flpas etc. then its not the problem with any of the vacuum elements or the five change over switches.
Its then the monovalve. Its located on the fire wall in the engine comparment. Easy to test its function and repair is about 30-35 bucks kit and 30 minutes of time. Check the tripod member pages
Good luck.

Let us know what you find.
