Unfortunately the car had a good carfax, maintenance history and bought at a reputable BMW dealership. Unfortunately it looks like the previous owner cheaped out and took it to a shop that didn't know what they were doing and then cleaned up the oil leak right before trading it in. I did the pre purchase inspection myself, as I used to be a mechanic and owned a performance shop in the past, and did not see any issues that warranted concern. The car actually ran fine on only showed issues when I hooked up a trailer and put a fair amount of load on it. I found that whenever the oil cooler seal was previously replaced many turbo/exhaust bolts were left lose and incorrect bolts used.

I'm hoping I should have it reliable soon, but in the mean time the wife is giving me crap of why I sold our perfectly working mint condition Dodge Ram for something that keeps breaking. I'll see if I can find a VIN for the model I'm looking for and reach out to he Classic Center and see if Tom can help.
