82 300d transmission help

i have an 82 300d turbo about 200k miles on it runs good, but the transmission is acting pretty funny. It shifts really fast 4th gear at 30mph which seems weird to me, it also downshifts harsh when its warming up, the upshift is fine but when im slowing down the shifts are harsh and fast, until it warms up it gets smooth but still fast. I was told im maybe missing a restriction orifice, but cant find much information on it. you guys have any input on what could be going on? Thank you!

Start by getting a hold of a vacuum line diagram for your specific year and model car and making sure that your vacuum system matches it exactly. If I'm not mistaken, the shift quality and load is all controlled by vacuum in '82. The bowden cable came along later.

If your vacuum system is screwed up, you'll get very firm shifts and you can get the shifting much earlier than you want it to be. Start with the basics: make sure your vacuum lines are all going where they're supposed to be. Your photo shows several lines open or what looks like broken.
