Post Cetane Boost

@Murkybenz ;

We have multiple Cetane boost products here, I'm not familiar with that one .

The car is running well in the 120* F heat here, sadly an AC hose blew while stopped in traffic yesterday so it's back to open windows in the heat again for now .

The tea colored swill I got in Jurupa, (? SP ?) Ca. was from a Chevron filling station right off the I15 freeway, a very busy station indeed .

I used to get only clear or lightly tinted blue/green Diesel fuel, now more and more I get Lemonade or darker colored fuels and it concerns me greatly .

I'm wondering if I should begin avoiding Chevron stations entirely ? .

I do often use Power Service Diesel Kleen as it makes the engines run noticeably stronger and increases the fuel economy at least three MPG .

The ProPel HPR stations are not too close to me but whenever possible I make a point of filling up there .
Interesting you mention this as my mechanic in the IE said I should stick to Chevron diesel as he feels it is generally cleaner. You just blew that theory! I'm guessing it just depends upon whether a station is relatively new (clean tanks) or a high volume station (fuel doesn't sit).

Thanks for reminding me to buy some Diesel Kleen...I used to use that in my VW TDI wagon!

I'm relatively close to the Propel station in Ontario, I will have to check it out!!!

Post Chevron Fuels

FWIW, my high compression gasoline powered engines all love Chevron's "Supreme" Hi Test Gasoline .

I'd fill up in truck stops where they had faster turnover and (maybe) care about not allowing fungus to grow in the Diesel storage tanks but few have Auto Diesel nozzles and although I _can_ fill my tank with the MEGABLASTER 200GPM nozzles there, I prefer not to after taking a couple of Diesel baths in Texas..... YMMV of course .

Power Service 'Diesel Kleen' is very good stuff indeed ~ white bottle for Winter, Silver bottle for Summer is the general rule but here in Southern California gelling isn't really an issue .

BTW : the Chevron station that had the awful Diesel was next to the I15 freeway, on Jurupa Av. in case you want to give it a wide berth .

The nozzle was completely black, why I was suspicious in the first place .

Pro-Pel's HPR nozzles are noticeably cleaner, always .

HPR is the best thing to hit the left coast in a long while...usually we just get Chinese smog and Japanese radioactive fallout!

I was doing some research on Propel HPR and came upon this in the a Cummins forum. Seems there are advantages and disadvantages to HPR. Seems some sort of blend with diesel (20-50% HPR) would be appropriate:

Propel Diesel HPR - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum

P.S. I'm still making my way around these forums...found the discussion under Alternative Fuels!!!

Post HPR ProPel Bio Diesel

Thanx for the link, good reading .

My 1984 300TD turbo seems to run very well indeed on it, I'm in 114* F Indio right now and the power feels the same and the engine is silky smooth .

I'll do another mileage check in a few days, I'm @ 180 miles and over 3/4 tank right now, I rarely fill up until the low fuel lamp comes on .

Last tank was 24 MPG, not good but it's a 7 passenger wagon .

Thumbs up Competitively Priced

Hi Rich ;

Once again I have written you multiple PM's and E-Mails with zero response....

In So. Cal. Dino Diesel prices have been varying but typically hover right around $2.75 ~ $2.90 / gallon .

I hope you'll go look in your spam file or whatever and respond to my queries soon .

TIA,

TIA,
I know the price of D2 at local stations, I just wanted to know the price of HPR. I suppose I could call them. Not one PM or email. Are you sure you have my correct email address? I am sure you have my phone number as well......Rich

Every PM I receive gets a response, especially if a question is asked (common courtesy).

Sorry, but that sounds to me like you posted Dino Diesel prices, not HPR.

WHOOPS ! .

My bad, sorry Rich .

I use the two HPR stations in Harbor City and the one in Arcadia, last fillup on Friday was $2.75 / gal.

I just found about about the HPR station on Holt & Vineland Av in Ontario and will prolly fill up there in a week or so based on my regular driving needs .

THANK YOU .
