Stainless Steel Brake Lines for w123 300d
Hello everyone..
So the next thing I am looking to do is flush the fluid out of the entire braking system as the fluid inside of the master cylinder is a bit dark. While doing so I would like to replace all the brake lines with stainless steel ones as I always have in the past with all my cars. My question is whether there is a preferred brand or source that everyone uses? What is everyone using for fluid? DOT 3 or 4? Thanks. |
nice upgrade. what are your brand choices

i was curious about your source. In the past i have made them because of sourcing. seems like more people would want them with the fluid taking up moisture.

I just bought some stainless lines for my 190d (they just came in today). I got mine from StopTech. I'm not sure if those will fit the 300, but I'd think if they have them for the 190 they'd have them for the 300. They can't be that much different.

I'm pretty sure the FSM calls for Dot 4.

I think the OP was talking about SS "HARD" lines.
Stop Tech only deals in the Flexible SS lines... A member HERE provides SS Flexible lines (Lifetime) under: Deerfield Precision |
Alternative is a rustproof brake line material that bends and works easily compared to common steel line. All parts stores carry it today or can easily get it. About twice the price of common steel line material. At least locally.

I used to have a Stoptech BBK on my E46 M3 and was very happy with their quality.. I will contact them to see if a set of lines exist for the w123.. |

If I remember correctly it is made of some Nickle alloy and can be easily hand bent withoug kinking it is also rust proof. |
Sounds like you want to buy a set of lines instead of making a set.
