84SD sunroof seal will this work?

Sunroof seals on this site show a front, a rear in URO and Genuine MBZ with the side fuzzy NLA.

Where do these fleabay seals get installed?

This one says for 86 & later. What changed? I need something for the 84 & 85SD.

'86 and later are a one-piece seal. Avoid the Uro version, they are CRAP.

Will the 86 & later work in an 84? The early side fuzzy seals are NLA. I will avoid URO.

No idea if the later seal will work in the earlier cars. I would suspect there is a reason there were 2 versions of the seal, but who knows. The one-piece seal is common to the 201, 124, 126 Gen II, and 140 chassis.

Resurerecting this old thread. The 81-85 sunroof seals are felt sides and rubber front/back. The 86-81 seals are kind of continuous, but basically the same shape around the top. I grabbed some from the junkyard to test with my 84 300SD as a possible replacement. The rubber is a different shape. It could fit in the channel, but looking at the front of the 84SD, it extends further down. I would use the rubber meant for an 81-85 on those cars as a replacement. As far as the side felt seals, I an investigating a possible rubber seal. One idea is the 81-86 rubber seal I took from the junkyard. I'll post if it works.

BTW - I made an attempt at a felt side seal using folded over self adhesive velcro over the word out brush strip. It works quite well! Purpose of those side strips is to keep junk clear of the drains.

Side felts for the 123 are available again. I bought some a couple months ago. I don't remember where, but it might have been this site.

And your point is that your car has crappy paint and you don't care whether the sun roof works and don't want to be bothered with keeping the drains clear? Or is it something else?

Junkman 08-24-2021 03:25 PM

@Shadetree, track down the side felts if you can. 126 and 123 cars use the same seals.

Looks like I bought them at autohauz. $60 a piece Mercedes benz part.

my point, auto's rot down, and not worth sweat, blood, and money to make parts new. If over 20 years
