OM606 Injectors
I'm looking to rebuild the injectors in my '99 E300 with 200k. I have a lack of responsiveness when coming down to idle. It kind of hesitates. Diesel purge works for the mean time with it due to the high cetane of the purge, but doesn't fix it on regular fuel.
I'd like to rebuild the injectors, but a pop-tester looks expensive and I don't have a lot of time to build one. Paying a shop is almost as expensive as buying a set rebuilt. Would anyone trust p a r t s g e e k. They have Bosch Reman. for $66.00EA. I've read a horror story where a Bosch Reman sprayed too much and melted a piston (Not sure of source). If I just re-nozzle them, can I get away with that and call it a day? Or do they have to be pop-tested and balanced? It's a shame Greazzer doesn't do this business anymore! |
You're best off re nozzling them, and then you'll have to calibrate them.
Get Bosio or Monarks nozzles. |
Buy OEM nozzles and have someone here pop test and shim them for you. You'll be w/o the car for a week.
If you are hearing a slow reduction in RPM's that steps down and down again over the course of 2-3 sec's when you come to a quick stop that is the IP leaning out the fuel/air mixture and is totally normal (that per MBDOC years ago, a living legend). |

You can probably get away with installing a new set of nozzles, but if the problem is still there or worse, you'll need to pay for the injectors to be tested and calibrated. |
