Thanks Rich, will take a look into it or message him. All my 606 motors need to be bypassed. It doesn't get hot enough for it to melt a piston anyway from the exhaust gasses.

I got one with 440K and it runs like a clock. If I had the extra cash I'd buy it. It has a new trans in it from MB. Mileage don't scare me.

Drive this car this evening for a little bit. It ran real good for it's mileage. It had all of its power and moved out of its way good, i had it at WOT with little smoke. The interior was really nice. Gives hope to me for a lot more mileage in my two e300s.

good news

I just picked up a '99 E300 Turbodiesel with 50k mi, good to know there are OM606s out there with 500+k. I'm more worried about the 722.6 "lifetime sealed" transmission, but I'm sure there are service guides out there. Hoping to keep this car running for at least another decade.

Don't believe that lifetime sealed garbage. Get yourself a dipstick, filter and pan seal, two gallons of synthetic ATF, and change the fluid as you would any other auto trans that you care about. I use compressed air through the cooler banjo fitting, and that gets out all the fluid from the cooler. Drain the converter as well.

Some 99's don't have the converter drain.

Although I don't doubt that, at least two (the only two) that I have done a fluid change on had plugs. I have done two CDI's, and neither had a plug in the converter. Using compressed air through the cooler fitting on the left side gets most of the fluid out of the converter. It tends to make a mess, but that is easier dealt with than not getting as much old fluid out of the converter as possible.
