1995 E300 om606 manual fuel shut-off valve leak
Hello all,
Anybody know the mercedes p/n of the manually controlled fuel shut off valve located on the secondary fuel filter housing? the valve appears to be leaking. I haven't taken this off yet, but is this a known issue? Is it fixable? Am I best off taking this valve out and installing the valveless fuel filter bolt from the om601/2/3 series of engines(if even possible)? Not sure if this topic has been covered before; ran a search, didn't see any results regarding this issue. If there are many other posts on the matter, I apologize ahead of time.... Thanks! -Rob |

*UPDATE* found a picture of it in the service manual and the owner's manual...it's definitely the manual fuel shut-off valve. Unfortunately, I still can't seem to find a part number...

You can use the bolt without the valve if you want...a lot less expensive. IIRC that shutoff is redundant.

The valve CAN be repaired. There are one or two O-rings on the shaft that are probably the source of your leak. I believe there is a rolled pin on the top that holds the shaft in place, you'd need to push that pin out to remove the shaft.

If you order a new filter from MB, it should come with those fiddly O rings needed.

Its pretty easy to dissasemble the valve to replace the little o-ring. Change your fuel filter at the same time.

Just replaced the tiny o-ring inside the valve - no more issues. Thanks all. Now time to fix the rattling vacuum pump!! Slowly but surely, fixing all the issues.

Yes, but there is no lever on the side of the IP because the intake manifold completely blocks all access, so if the vacuum shut-off fails, this valve is the next easiest way to kill the engine.

So it sounds like the 95 was the last 606 with vacuum shut-off? And that, effective with MY96, it was electronic?

Why not just use a previous gen pump and design some linkage that circumvented the manifold? I feel like Bosch + Mercedes could have done this without too much issue...
