Best oil pan/valve cover gaskets?

I'm looking into replacing my oil pan and valve cover gaskets. I noticed the Felpro is more than the Beck Arnley. Are there any opinions as to whether one is a better brand than the other?

Frank.

Hi Frank.
Last year i did my valve cover gasket. I used the MB original. Touch would it just fitted fine and is holding good. I know fastlane has some after market. But I think the diff is not very substantial. So its you call. MB or aftermarket. If you do go for aftermarket checkout Fastlane before you go for Felpro or Beck-A.

Felpro is a very-well respected name making some of the best gaskets available. They use a rubber/neoprene formula for valve cover, timing chain, oil pan, etc. for US engines where the factory and after-market gasket makers use that horrible cork or cork/rubber gasket. Felpro also makes really good head gaskets, and have pioneered unique materials to replace the old asbestos head gasket since asbestos has been phased out. Also, the aluminum head to cast iron block and the all-aluminum engines have problems with sealing (and M-B has some well-known head gasket sealling problems with their alum. heads and all alum. engines) and Felpro has some very successful designs to ensure good sealing.

Beck Arnley has been around for at least 30 years that I know of, and probably longer. They have imported and dist. foreign car and motorcycle parts along with US cars for that long. They dist. several name brands.

I would buy your gaskets from Fast Lane because they sell quality products at good prices. Also, they sponsor this forum, so supporting them helps you with continuing to find good info to keep your M-B on the road because they stay in business. When you place your order for the valve cover and trans. pan gaskets order a trans. filter since you're removing the pan anyway, an air filter, a couple of oil filters and both fuel filters - you will need them and the shipping cost will be spread over several items.

Good Luck!
Tom

I'll just stick with the Fastlane stuff.

Frank.
