W210 Trunk Lid Latch Replacement
Need to replace the trunk lid latch on my 98 E300. Anything I need to know about replacing it? Or is it as straightforward as it looks?

I replaced the latch in the wagon hatch which was straightforward except that MB made a real puzzle out of getting the latch through adjacent structure. There wasn't anything really to align but maybe self closing (which my sedan doesn't have) self-aligns. I replaced a rear door latch and that was straightforward as well aside from the 3D Tetris exercise through the door frame. Think of the laser field scene in Oceans 12.

So is there a little motor in there? Or is it somehow vacuum actuated?

I took it apart... How do I remove the latch from the lock assembly?
