115.114 300D Mystery Part

Hello All,

I found this in the dash resting to the right of the ignition cylinder on the wire bundle that runs across the dash. I'm pretty certain it has nothing to do with the cylinder. It had some #1 grease on it. There's coil spring in the center that keep pressure on the tiny flat lever (on the right in image 1).
The two bearings also have springs behind them.

Has any seen this thing before ?
Clearly I like to determine if it's vital for any particular mechanical system.

Thanks,

Michael

Looks to me like it is part of the ignition switch.

Warmth,
Henry
