SEEKING someone who is traveling from SoCal....

...and willing/able to fit a set of 4 wheels with tires into their rig, trailer, pickup bed, etc. I bought these from a fellow forum member from San Bernardino and trying to get them back to SW Ohio. I'm willing to meet somewhere between within 300 - 500 miles if you are not going all the way into Ohio. Willing to and planning to pay you for this service so if this is something that fits into your 'life' please PM me! Thank you

Dale

Check the prices for Greyhound freight, their station-to-station prices can be much lower than other shippers for large boxes, if you can get them all into one box.

Well we actually have already done that. And it was too much!

Well that's certainly an option. I have not yet looked into that but thank you for the idea!

Why not just pull the tires off and ship them UPS? Seems kind of expensive to ship tires cross country.

Not sure I'm following the logic. If wheels and tires are separated, then I'd be dealing with 8 pcs instead of 4 plus shipping space required would then be doubled. So help me out here...

You are correct when you say that it seems expensive!

Have you looked at shipping services like uShip or Roadie? Basically they work just like Uber, connecting people who need to ship stuff, with people willing to haul it. Much cheaper than UPS or Fedex.

It appears that the cost would be around $180 so it's certainly palatable. They require that they be delivered to a point about 35 miles from where they are plus they must be in boxes. So....my seller will need to go a little above and beyond to get them on their way - which I'm willing to compensate his out of pocket...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok, so 4 sets of tires + rims = an arm and a leg for shipping

Tires can be bought anywhere, so I'm not sure why you would want special California tires.

Rims can be shipped at affordable cost.

Throw the tires away or give them to a member in California.

Tires are 75% and I need tires as well as the wheels. Nothing special about them, it's just they are included. Looks like at this point I'll ship thru Amtrak. Not bad, just under $200

Indeed! I've got an open account with uship but don't think I followed through with Roadie. I've also listed with Citizenshipper.com. I'm not having much action on either sites however I do hahve an open Bid from someone that can pick up in CA on Sept 22 - a month out - but I was hoping to have them long before that!

Fastenal offers cheap bulk shipping if you have one of their stores near you. They put them on their trucks that have extra room after their own goods are loaded.
I used them a few times with good cheap success. Shipped and Recieved stuff on pallets.
But I also heard about some shipping issues from other people. If your package goes far, it will be transferred to many different trucks. The chances of damage is increased. So study the terms just in case issues arise.
