Wow, that's sad, I'll try it once I'm bored.

I have my w124 2.5 straight piped and it sounds horrendous. The only that sounds good is an om606 with a straight pipe and your going to make the car sound like a whooped beater. Its a benz not a honda.

10" of 3.5" pipe off the turbo flange facing straight down to the ground. that with a HE221W and a high flow air filter makes for quite a nice sound if a bit loud.

I removed the rear muffler on my wagon and it noticeably picked up power and the noise is not hugely louder. A choked exhaust is a power drain on diesels; there is no argument about this. No drone at highway speed at all.

I went straight years ago on my wagon and haven't looked back. I don't know where you would get drone from unless you exited under the car.

People will do a double-take because they think a truck is coming down the street, but that's about it.

If you wanted to do it "right" you would weld flanges at each cut point so you could easily swap in or out the straight sections and muffler/resonator.

I did that to see how it would sound about a year or two ago. I still haven't put it back on, though sometimes I think about it.
