Wastegate swap question

I'm going to do the wastegate swap on an OM602 to eliminate all the vacuum transducers/actuators near the airbox. I'm going to order the actuator from ATP Turbo. If I just swap the wastegate and unplug the EGR valve and the other saucer (not proper terminology, I know ) right behind it, can I get away without doing the blocking plate? Also, what's the point of drilling a hole in the turbo? If I just swap the wastegate I don't see why anything else would be a problem and I could clean up the engine bay a bit by getting rid of the vacuum and just having that f-fitting for the line from the injection pump.

You have to drill a hole in the compressor housing to fit the boost line to the pressure-operated wastegate. Without it, the wastegate won't open.

I'm pretty sure you can connect the line to one of the unused ports on the intake manifold. That's what I was going to do. Just have to put a barb fitting threaded for the proper NTP size.

I have all the parts for this mod, but I don't think I'm going to need them (looking at different turbo options). I might be willing to sell everything cheaper than what it would cost you from ATP, etc.

yes, you can just un pipe that from vacuum and it will stay wide open.
When i did my waste gate swap i removed that component and it's guts and used the holes left behind to tap my pressure tube.

I'm guessing he fashioned a boost signal port onto a plate that caps the EGR valve flange on the mixing pipe.

No need to drill anything… There's a ready-made port just waiting to be used on the manifold.

of the three vacuum components in around the turbo side... The wastegate, EGR valve and the "Intake manifold pressure control valve"

i was referring to the guts of the "Intake manifold pressure control valve"

I swapped he wastegate and just left the EGR valve in place without vacuum.

See picture.
