One Year Later...
November 17, 2016 was the re-registration date of "The Diseasel". Car had been off the road since at least March 2007 when the registration expired, but was parked in late 2006, so possibly earlier.
Since then, it's largely become my daily-driver. I've put on ~8500 miles in the past year and the car's been remarkably reliable. With the help of various folks on this forum, it now has working A/C, a fresh driveshaft and carrier bearing, working odometer, fully functional cruise control (Thanks Kris!), a properly tuned injection pump (Thanks Max!), re-sealed and functional ALDA, and a myriad of other creature comforts that make it a very pleasurable car to drive. To everyone who's provided help on the forum and off the forum, a BIG THANK YOU! It's hard to cover something new with a forum as established as this one, but hopefully The Diseasel can give something back: It did confirm that a worn D/V can cause injector nailing, solving a longstanding question (Still running the lapped D/Vs and nail-free by the way). It also confirmed that the EDS computer can cause or exacerbate a lopey idle and repairing it can cause some flaky functions such as the kickdown switch and A/C cutout switch to work properly again. It isn't much, certainly not giving back as much as I've taken from this forum, but it's something. Hopefully not the last. On tap for 2018: Repairing the saggy driver's seat, a turbo rebuild, and possibly brake/suspension work.
