What Suspension Part is this?
1 Attachment(s)
So after I did my differential fluid, trans fluid, FINALLY installed a new fan shroud, and got a new fan clutch.
I noticed this was worn out. What do you call it? It's the lower control arm bushing right? |
Lower ball joint. (MB calls it the support joint.)
The bushing is on the frame end of the control arm. |
Thank you!
But i'm still confused as to which one is the right part. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL Base Sedan - Suspension, Shocks & Springs - Page 3 |
Go back to Page 2. Down at the bottom you have a selection. They call it the Control Arm Joint. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL Base Sedan - Suspension, Shocks & Springs - Page 2

Don't know about your car, but on my 1985 300D it is tricky to replace. Yours looks similar. There are several posts w/ photos. You must remove the spindle to work on the bench. Getting the old out isn't too hard (beat w/ large hammer). You need a C-clamp ball joint press to install the new one, and some patience.

I used a generic balljoint C-clamp press on my w123, you just have to be a bit creative. I modified one of the things and it worked fine.
