On an engine with worn rings, there is already a lot of oil on the cylinder walls, adding more only serves to reduce combustion chamber volume / calculated compression ratio so pressures will come up.

It is possible to have good compression numbers and a combustion chamber leak to coolant. A leak down tells much more about an engines health than a compression test.
