Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

Before you do anything rash...where will you new cooler be mounted? If you’re committed to doing this, the first thing to do is mount the cooler. Then you’ll know how long the hoses need to be. If you can’t find a spot for the cooler, Amazon takes returns.

From car-part.com
Click on the thumbnail to see it. Looks like 3 maybe 4 that'll do ya. Even a new one. No messing around, just a direct fit.

Exclamation

Thanks moon, but the ebay seller let me keep the radiator, when I was in the process of flushing the cooling system I used the "new" radiator and the car didn't overheat.

Also I got the lines off and i'm almost ready to install it.

Is this a good spot? It is behind the air duct.

Everything is done.

Still need to drop transmission pan and torque converter, I don't think I can do it honestly. My ankles and knees are in agony for some reason. I was working on the car from just about 7:30 till about 5:30, my brother is going to have to do this.

It hurts just to stand.

You dont need to drop the torque converter, all you need to do is drain it man. Your talking about removing the whole trans!

I rushed my message, I meant to say remove drain plug from converter.

For some reason the car runs at the exact same temperature, a little above 80*C.
Even with new fan clutch and fan shroud back on,

How did you flush the transmission without dropping the pan, changing the filter and draining the TC?

What's wrong with that? It should be running with the needle dead-center of the gauge if everything is working properly.

I did all of that, dropped pan and drain converter but, I was supposed to go through the gears with Kerosene in the transmission?

From what I understand, filling it up and draining it without going through the gears simply gets half of the crap out.

So I got two more bottles of ATF and tomorrow I will get the rest of it out and see how it performs.

Also I spoke to soon, the transmission cooler studs on the radiator need a permanent solution to block them off because it still leaks. Right now they are only being plugged up by vacuum plugs. So the car definely isn't road worthy yet until I go to Lowes and fine a nut that will fit on it,

If that's possible. I still have the old transmission cooler lines as well.

Nope, that's the operating temperature of the thermostat. The engine coolant temp will be slightly higher.

Well, looks like I have no choice but to bang out this transmission fluid drain tomorrow because my brother invited a friend for pizza, and that requires ME making the pizza dough. Looks like my brother will take over, maybe,

Finally dropped the transmission pan and drained the bell housing again, car shifts normally, car doesn't over heat or anything. I can't believe after this massive fiasco the car runs normally.

This was the most the 2nd most grueling task I've ever done. But it was defiantly the nastiest, covered all over in ATF, drips of it getting on my face. I had to cut off the crimped collar with this.

http://d2ydh70d4b5xgv.cloudfront.net/images/7/4/foredom-series-r-rotary-tool-scr-1-foot-pedal-and-cfl-15-plus-stand-dd70dfb61f048e1e09fb56283fa411a8.jpg

A Foredom Series R a Jewelers rotary tool, essentially the commercial/industrial version of the "Dremel". I had to cut it in the most awkward positions imaginable, I also had to hold the tool with one hand bite on the cord with my mouth, and pull the my extension cord apart with my free hand in order to turn it off. Good thing about this tool is that it is tiny and can fit in the tightest of spots, and it can flex as well.

I really need to rebuild it because it just saved me big time.

Still need a permanent solution to the leaking transmission heat exchange pipe. I pulled the pipe out of my old radiator and I was wondering if I could swap it OR find a giant nut that will fit on it and seal it.

So far I only have plugged up with a penny and super glue. Obviously terrible but I don't know of anything else I can do. I don't know anyone with a welder either.
