Using a short feeler gauge leaf, I found that sometimes when I positioned the leaf, it was not quite flat to the intersection of rocker arm and cam lobe. The longer leaf is much more flexible and positions itself more accurately.

May just be my personal ham-handedness.

1300 is fantastic, I use it myself.

Perhaps, I should have been clearer. I was referring to setting the clearances a little looser than standard. Have you tried this?
