Talking w116 wins!!! purchased 1980 300sd with typical problems

Thanks for the advice from the w116 vs. w124 thread. Purchased a very clean 1980 300sd with mondo miles on it (302K). It has all the typical problems, door locks not working, fussy heater and AC, transmission flaring, saggy seats. ect. but I have faith I can fix everything.

With more help from this forum today I diagnosed the AC fan problem, worn motor brushes. I'm bringing a long stick to "smack it silly" during my road trip tomorrow.

What would be the best source for a detailed vacuum diagram? I noticed the PO diabled the vacuum line to the door locks. I see no obvious place where he blocked it off. Just an open line to the cabin.

Thanks, The fan never worked on any of the test drives so they gave me a better deal on the car. I pulled the fan motor out today and ran voltage to it and it ran fine. I re-installed it and it worked for a day then quit. Then I did my "forum" research.

Ahhhh, worn brushes, tap on motor and it will magically reanimate itself. I'll pull another motor from the junkyard on Sunday. It's "half price" day.
