W123 Monovalve - $39 to $130.50 :(
Monovalves OEM just went to $130.50 from $39. Probably because this car is getting more rare/older etc so it's understandable. Better then the crap MTC makes.
I wonder if they even still use the w123 for taxis now - we're approaching 32 years old now for the last models built in 1985. So generally these cars are 32-40 years old now.... no wonder maintenance is so expensive. So much better then a Honda or Prius though! haha

Did you buy the cartridge or the entire monovalve? That price sounds more like the monovalve assembly rather than the cartridge...

cartridge, check it out on pelican. Like I said - makes sense given the year but still. Prices are going up.

These cars are now at the point that you drive them because you love them.
Not because it's more affordable or easier to maintain than a modern car. I was going to recommend you look into a modern car if it's getting too much to handle, but I see you've already done that with your new 4matic C class. If the MTC part doesn't work, return it. I have no problem returning bad parts.

Monovalve
While I’m no longer driving a w123 chassis, I am driving an older Mercedes-Benz diesel. I just received my MBZ brand Monovalve insert yesterday from Pelican. I paid $48, including shipping. MTC got my money...once.

That must be the Canadian mark up. They are still listed at $39US here at Pelican.

It shows $39 until you click on it...Clearly a poorly coded website...

Hmm.....interesting. Four MTC units = One MB... do you want to gamble? They are very easy to replace. However, in Canadian cold it may not be so "easy".

I was fortunate enough to replace mine when the price was where it should be. Sorry, but there's absolutely no excuse for a solenoid core to cost $130. Time to start taking the MTC diaphragm and fitting it on the MB core.

Wow!
I bought mine just in time then. It arrived in the mail yesterday. Whew! Glad I didn’t hesitate.
