FSM applicability

79 240d (123.123/616)

The online FSM at startekinfo mostly doesnt work for me; keep getting "content not available" messege when trying to view the final pages.

Due to the broken timing chain issue I previously posted about, I am having to do fairly deep R&R of internal engine components and will need info from a FSM. In looking at hard copy availability it looks like I may not be able to find the 79 manuals. There are some differences between "early-up to 79" and "late-post 79" models.

Will a FSM engine volume from 80-83 (or even from 77-78) work for my 79?

if you are working on your 240d it has a om616 engine. you need the mercedes engine manual that covers engines om615/616/617.91x
there is one on ebay right now for ~$50:

The online FSM was designed to work with the Internet Explorer browser.
If you can't access the html links that are on the pdf pages, try opening the pdf with the Internet Explorer brower.

This is a known issue with the Electrical Toubleshooting Manual.

While I suspect it will work, this book is from 1975 and begs the question as to whether it will be complete for a 1979 motor.

I got a paper copy I can make xeroxes for you, or I might have pdfs someplace.

Thanks for the offer, I should have a paper copy on the way. I'll let you know if it bombs.
