Question W123 Park Light Indicator ?

I was fooling 'round under the3 dashboard and noticed an unused terminal on the light switch ~ it comes live when the light switch is in the park light position and goes out in all other positions .

My question : ? where does the park light indicator bulb go in European models ? .

I don't see any unused places .

Pictures of same would help .

TIA,

Center of the rotary headlamp switch illuminates with the fog lights (low beams and regular fog lamps) and when
the rear fog parking lamps are activated on euro models (FL & RL or FR & RR parkings lights).

Wires to bulbs (for this second function) are missing in taillight housings on US spec models.
Circuit doesn't complete, so lamp doesn't illuminate on US spec models.

Does the W123 headlight switch light up?

Thanx Alec ;

I was hoping to use that for the rear fog light but what the hey, right ? .

Another Q. : do the front fog lights have a relay or are they powered via the headlight switch ? .

Front fog lamps directly powered by headlamp switch.

Thumbs up

I thought so .

My switch is apparently dirty as they stopped working and I want to fix them .

? Maybe I can spray Electro - Contact Cleaner in the shaft after I disconnect the ground cable ? .

Try cleaning the fuse contacts first, disconnect the ground cable to the battery beforehand.

Thanx Fellas .

I always clean the fuse box and scrap the cheapo aluminum fuses the instant I buy anything these uses these ceramic fuses, I tested and the power seems good .

VW / Porsche partshaus' sell the proper ceramic fuses with the copper strips very cheaply .

Before they failed entirely, I could get the fog lamps to come on by fiddling the light switch .

This car's interior was completely filled with choking smoke they day I bought it, I couldn't see the dashboard and have been cleaning it ever since .
