euro headlight questions

I was installing a set of euro headlights today on a gen 1 W126 and noticed that the vacuum pods within the headlight allowed the bulb mount to move a significant amount. having no interest in rigging a vacuum control is there a way to solidly fix this assembly? and which position is optimal?
thanks in advance

Contrary to popular belief the vac pods on the w126 lights pull the lights up into their normal position. Less vacuum causes them to dip. If the pods are still good and you don't care about the adjustment feature I would just run a vacuum line from them directly to the main vacuum line under the hood. Nice an easy, only requires two hoses, and if ou ever decide you want to add the adjuster it wouldn't be hard to do.

The resting down position with no vacuum applied is fine. Just adjust your low beams accordingly. On my 124 I hooked up a vacuum source through a spare solenoid valve so the low beams till UP when the inner high beams (formerly fogs) are turned on.

Nifty... how did you do that?

so two y fittings and appropriate vac hose is the simplest non invasive workaround.

I couldn't adjust mine high enough with the adjusters to see anything without vacuum

Yes, its what I would recommend.
