Fuel lines

All,

The good news is I found the fuel line that was leaking. It seems to be the main line coming from a metal line and turns into a rubber fuel line that goes to the fuel filter. The bad news is there are two more rubber fuel lines under there. Any idea what the other two are for and the sizes? I figure if I'm going to get soaked in diesel I may as well replace all three.

1995 E300D with 290K on it.

Thanks!

I don't know your car.

In my 1984 & 1985 300D's, 5/16" fuel hose fits. I replace w/ Goodyear Barricade, which is rated for bio-diesel (toughest fuel) and can be bought by the foot at NAPA. The return hose is a special swollen "cigarette" hose. For injector returns, I use 1/8" Viton hose (ebay).

Thanks!

I'll check with NAPA this weekend. I'm the second owner so I suspect they are the stock lines.

E300 Fuel Lines

You may already know this, but the fuel lines on a ‘95 E300 are unlike the fuel lines of any of its Mercedes diesel predecessors. I can’t recall EVERY fuel line that’s hidden up under the intake, but 99% are plastic lines with special fitted o-ring clips that are notorious for drawing air into the fuel. I own a ‘95 E300, but I can’t remember how the metal line from the tank terminates.

While the above is true in respect to the clip fitting/o-ring setup on these om606.910/912/etc...

They do still have a rubber fuel line coming off the steel hardlines that run the length of the frame to the fuel tank, one feed (goes to the fuel heater on the head) and one return(from the fuel filter block)
As I recall, on the w210(perhaps different than your w124), feed is a 3/8 and return is 5/16...

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification. I couldn’t remember how the feed line was designed. I replaced all the lines in mine over two years ago. I’ve slept since then. LOL

MB does not use inch sized hoses. Everything is metric. For the fuel hoses in question, IIRC its 8mm ID.

I suggest downloading the "convert.exe" program (Josh Madison)
8 mmID = 0.315" = 5.04/16" ID = "close enough for rubber".
