Originally I was trying to think of a way to like archive the section some how. Some how where all the info would still be there and available but removed from the main list of forums.

Again this is strictly something to think/talk about, not an official vote nor am I trying to push towards deleting the section

I check it periodically. I guess I'll have to start adding items to this folder to keep it alive. I'm just in the middle of buying and selling houses and cars so that's my current priority.

Wow... a bit harsh a response...

Everybody is welcome to discuss any and all diesel related questions on here.

This response alone proves why the section should remain where it is.

It is the reason I created the section in the first place...

WVO use is a very opinionated topic from both sides, and getting it off the main diesel site dramatically reduced infractions and arguments on this site.

The grease users keep to themselves, and the purists don’t venture over to get into arguments...

Ya in all honesty I wish there were more projects and stuff on there. I'm actually very interested in the subject and doing it on one of my beater cars.

My buddy makes hot water tanks for gold drege miners in Alaska. They use the hot water to pump into their wetsuits to keep them warm when sucking up gold under the ice of the Pacific ocean in the winter.

They use the spiral coper coil filled with coolant from their marine engines to warm the water. The same way the 2 tank set up works.

I mention this because its interesting and he would be my first goto when I finally get the extra scratch to throw a second grease tank in my Benz.

Back around '06 I had an ambition to find grease and brew bio-diesel as it seemed that would be much safer than running straight WVO. Then I considered that at best I'd save $200 a month and putting aside the time and hassle to get it and brew it, there'd be a part of my shop that was always greasy.

Brewing enough of it to also sell to others would yield more return for the time and facility but would be more work and, oh man, what if someone had major trouble with their engine on my brew?

I had it really good a year ago when HPR was about $2.70 - less than dino but those days are gone. About $3.60 now.

_THIS_ ~ people often begin with the best of intentions then discover that it takes a lot of time and labor to do properly and the car seems to run O.K. when they occasionally skip a step....

Or three .

A year or so later the engine is ruined (how I got my turbo 300CD cheaply in the middle of the old craze) and the car gets junked, the lazy owner _always_ blames the car, never their failure to properly prepare, filter and so on (plus that HUGE oil slick) the veggie oil .

Bio -Mass Diesel is in fact, pretty good .

All three of my M-B's seem to love it and no fungus/dirt issues either .(Chevron used to occasionally deliver coffee colored Dino - Diesel at the pump)

Being a Mechanic by trade I touch enough grease already so I buy my Bio - Mass Diesel at the pump, cheaper and easier .

In Los Angeles South Bay it's $3.49 / gallon @ ProPel dealers .

So you're just trolling the grease burners? Seems like you may have frustrated your point.

Although #2 has crept up in price, it's still under $3 bucks a gallon. However, WVO on the long trip, blended, is still around .20 cents a gallon. Not sure how you can compare and keep up with that pace IF, and big IF, you do a lot of "long trips", e.g., at least 100 miles. Drive around 20,000 miles a year interstate "long" trips, and you already paid for your car ...

I miss read this when u originally posted it. This had made me 200% change my mind on the subject and it very smart.

Because as u can see it seems that this has actually happened within this thread... Lol I'm sorry.

Move to alt Fuels section is my vote

but ya i wouldn't be mad if it was locked/deleted

I see no need to lock/delete/move this thread, as the Moderator said "folks are allowed to post comments and thoughts" .

I know folks who are meticulous about making their own veggie Diesel fuel and have zero problems .

Those who choose not to, just go to the pump and buy whatever you want .

No problem either way .

Ya but now it has turned into a full on thread about the pros and cons of alt Fuels themselves, not a convo simply about the alt Fuels section.

So technically it should be moved over to alt Fuels Rather than diesel discussion

Welcome to life. Folks will ALWAYS disagree about literally everything. That's what fuels discussions (about fuels in this case!). Just imagine how boring life would be if everyone agreed about everything all the time. *yawn* Censorship is for the Soviets, if you don't like what you read or see, simply close the thread and read something else, isn't freedom grand?
