Fuel return hose 300sdl

Good morning, when replacing the fuel return hoses/lines do you use any type of sealant etc or just put them on there dry? Thanks!

If your Injectors have little nipples on them and use rubber hose no sealant is needed. However, it is always better to also include the year along with your model.

Besure not to nick or scratch the Nipples.

He said 300SDL, I don't see how it can be any clearer...

But yes, put the hose on dry. Use the correct size hose and it should be a firm fit. If too hard to get on the nipple, use a bit of diesel fuel as a lubricant.

Also, on the pressure hoses always use the correct full band typ clamps ~ I see far too many gear typ and the hose is always damaged .

Clamps are cheap .

Thanks to all! Let’s just say a homemade return overflow plug I made with a piece of hose which seemed to fit very snugly with a screw in the end was not successful during a trip of 78mph up and down fairly steep hills. Definitely going factory / oem!

The devil is always in the details .

Much more so on German cars , why some of us can buy an old junker and run it hard far and wide sans troubles and others have endless issues .

Hose must be the correct material. People here have proven that tygon and silicone don't last a month. The proper rubber hose w/ woven covering stamped "Made In Germany" seems to last at least several years before it shows wet from weeping. Last pass, I installed 1/8" Viton tubing (ebay, from China) and still looks fine (maybe 2 yrs). I don't know what extras are in D2 fuel these days, but know ethanol and such has negatively impacted older gas engine. I mostly use a refined bio (Diesel HPR) which is likely more aggressive, as is B20 which many here use at least in the summer.
