The Bosch alternator has one small wire, the Valeo has two small wires. Do they matter?
Are they both coming off the same D+ terminal? Wire them together to your existing D+ wire. Or just one of them, it doesn't matter.

One may be for a tach signal or similar.
Only use the one... try one, then the other.

Great idea. If you don't know, just wire it up randomly. Be sure to get a jar of universal wiring smoke.

That's absolutely not what I told him. Re read his post and take a look at the pic he posted more carefully. Both the Bosch and Valeo alternators have just 2 terminals, B+ and D+. B+ runs to the battery, D+ runs to the warning light in the dash. In his case his Valeo alternator came with a Different D+ pigtails with 2 wires coming off of it. The second wire was likely used to run a tachometer on whatever car it came off of. The 300SDL has a separate tachometer input so the second wire is unnecessary in his case. His D+ terminal only needs to connect to the dashboard warning light. I hope that clears up your confusion.

Oh ok, that makes sense now, one came off a C230 and the other off a ML430
