Tailshaft switch needed for an 85 300sd trans to an 85 300d?
Looking at a local yard to pull a trans ,any difference in these trannies tail ,easy swap if its doable

Not doable...
The internals will not work. No oiling providpsions for the speedometer drive.

Going from a D to an SD, might work, but the sender ring would be soaked in oil, and would probably leak.

The 700-303 transmission was used in the 81' W123 wagons with an electric speedo. I have one with only 84k miles on it for sale if anyone needs one!
