Exhaust valves NA for OM606 - source???

Mercedes continued to produce intake valves, but not exhaust.

Can't find any anywhere.. Rather not put in used valves on a head I'm redoing, but that's also likely difficult to source.

do you have a part#?

OK, BTDT.
First of all note there were 6mm and 7mm exhaust valves used on the 606.9xx engines. If yours has 6mm exh valves all hope is lost! If 7mm read on!

I had to replace an exh valve a year or more ago in my '99 E300Dt.
I noted I had a leaking head gasket where oil was weeping onto the turbo area. No issue with oil in the coolant. It was not serious but I elected to fix it and when the cam cover was off it was discovered the cam gears were pretty chewed up. Isn't that the way things go on a 220K mile engine that was never apart?

OK, I ordered new glow plugs, a timing chain (may as well replace that bugger) a gasket set, the cam gears, a couple valve springs, I had a box of parts and thought the expenses were in.
Wrong! I carried the box of parts to my mechanic and when he pulled the head it was discovered 3 exh valves had melted in a few spots. IIRC two in cyl2 and one in cyl #1 (see pic below).
The head shop ordered the valves, thats why I couldn't find a receipt for that (I just searched in vain).

I did an online search and saw as you probably did the original p/n is (was) 606.050.14.27 and NLA.
I plugged that p/n into a Search here on the Forum and found WHunter's excellent reference of part numbers for OM606.910 here:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-parts-reference-library/370564-om606-910-rebuild-parts-list.html
WHunter shows an alternate part and it was plugged into the EPC (MB Dealer) and comes back available: 606.050.11.27.80 (dash 80 indicates rebuilt).
I'm not sure if buying a rebuilt valve requires a core or not. The replacement valves in my head looked new with the MB logo and 606 15 etched into the surfaces.
Sadly I didn't make pics of the 'before" only the "after" but the results are my engine runs great and no oil leaking.
GL with the project!

I just looked at the records of parts I ordered for rebuilding my engine and I see I also replace the lifters. Tappets as MB calls them.
I believe that was one thing that factored into my doing the cyl head in the first place, they were ticking despite running synthetic oil.
I don't know why I had to replace valve springs, I think the head shop decided they needed to be replaced. Heck thats the cheapest part on the whole head!
Darned lifters were a budget buster but as long as I was on a roll I just went "whole hog" as they say in Texas.

DD. Thanks for your detailed response. It's a 98 Turbo Diesel. Is that a .910? So am I safe to say I can can acquire exhaust valves?

I think yours is 606.962.

Right, the .910 was only used in the W124 chassis 93-95.
I suspect those use the smaller exh valves but only a hunch.
My '99 is a .962
